Pro-DBA.com Launches Low Cost Support Packages for Oracle and SQL Server Databases.
LONDON, November 12, 2001 -- A new service set to slash database support costs and make unscheduled downtime a thing of the past was officially launched today by Pro-DBA.com.
Following a successful six month pilot during which a select number of business-critical databases were supported, Pro-DBA.com is now offering its low cost support packages to businesses worldwide.
For just £750 a month, Pro-DBA.com provides a complete support solution for any small to medium Oracle or SQL Server database, bringing the power, resilience and feature-richness of the world's foremost database technologies within the reach of most SMEs.
The monthly price includes daily database and environment health checks, proactive maintenance and housekeeping, automated daily database backups and unlimited access to Pro-DBA.com's helpdesk between 8am and 6pm on weekdays. A comprehensive database health check report, produced at the start of the support contract period, is also included in the price.
"Our health checks and operational procedures have been refined to such an extent that database service outages are virtually unheard of amongst our clients," said Karen Musselwhite of Pro-DBA.com today. "We thus enjoy high efficiency levels, enabling us to gain a big price advantage over rival consultancies ".

Oracle Server Software Still Overpriced, Says Online Poll
LONDON, October 1, 2001 Oracle Server Software is still too expensive compared to rival offerings, according to the results of an online survey carried out by Pro-DBA.com.
The survey, run on Pro-DBA.com's web site, polled over 500 site visitors to discover that 56% considered Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) database software overpriced. Microsoft SQL Server offers better value, according to 63% of the survey participants.
The results would no doubt disappoint Oracle, which has recently overhauled its pricing structure to protect market share against growing competition from rival database vendors Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and IBM (Nasdaq: IBM).
