Microsoft recently announced the release of SSMS 17.3. The latest version of SQL Server Management Studio, which supports SQL 2008 to SQL 2017, includes two new features. The first of these is the Import Flat File Wizard, which streamlines the import of CSVs and text files with minimal user intervention. The second is XEvent Profiler, a SQL Profiler-like quick view of extended events in your database.

At the company’s Ignite 2017 conference, Microsoft has announced that SQL Server 2017 is now generally available. The announcement marks the full release of the first SQL Server version to work on Windows Server, Linux and Docker.

Microsoft has also said that running SQL Server on Azure is now cheaper, as customers can receive up to a 50% reduction in licensing costs by using Azure Hybrid Benefits.
