Oracle’s cloud services growth has been questioned in an FT article. A slowdown in year on year Oracle cloud revenue growth over multiple quarters has been suggested as a reason why Oracle has rolled cloud revenue into a new “cloud services and license support” category to mask problems.
Co-CE Safra Catz dismissed the speculation, stating that cloud revenue shortfalls are down to currency issues. Co-CE Mark Hurd rejected concerns over Oracle’s capital expenditure falling short of rivals’ levels, saying “If I have two-times faster computers, I don’t need as many data centers. If I can speed up the database, maybe I need one fourth as many data centers”.
