We at Pro DBA were delighted to spread some extra Easter cheer to our local food store: Evelyn Community Store in Deptford.
Extremely proud to have provided all the store’s younger members with an Easter egg.
Evelyn Community Store in Deptford is in one of the most deprived London boroughs. Their mission is to reduce food poverty and the stigma attached to it. The community store offers an alternative to a food bank and ensures its members have food each week. The store is run by local volunteers in partnership with Lewisham Homes and FareShare. It’s stores consist of chilled, frozen, fresh, and ambient stock. Members visit the store once a week, pay a nominal fee, and receive a range of groceries provided by FareShare. To combat food poverty, any surplus food they are able to obtain is given out free.

To be a member, you have to be on a very low income or be in receipt of benefits and facing financial challenges. The store is making a significant impact by providing meals to over 500 people every week, and the need is growing. They operate a waiting list, and there are always people waiting to join. The members have expressed their gratitude for the support they receive, and together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. They are committed to helping and supporting the local community.
The mission at Evelyn Community Store is to end food poverty. We can all make a difference. They are always in need of private support and donations.
