Microsoft offers a set of GDPR compliance tools for SQL Server to aid adherence to the EU’s new data rules for database software users.
Microsoft advocates using the SQL Data Discovery & Classification tool, built into SSMS, to identify and classify sensitive data. Database Administrators can then use dynamic data masking to control who can access sensitive data. Row-level security is also available in SQL Server 2016 onwards, to control access to specific table rows. The Always Encrypted and SQL Vulnerability Assessment features also help users achieve GDPR compliance.
