Microsoft Switching SQL Server to Bimonthly Cumulative Updates

Microsoft has announced a change to the delivery schedule for SQL Server cumulative updates. These will now arrive on a bimonthly basis after the first year, instead of quarterly. This change applies to SQL Server 2017 and also SQL Server 2019, which is currently in preview. The schedule change will take effect from CU13 on 18th December 2018.

Microsoft said the old quarterly release model was “too burdensome on customers”.
