Oracle Database on Oracle Cloud up to 24x faster than on Amazon

Oracle continued to demonstrate their cloud credentials at Oracle OpenWorld 2016, with new benchmarks showing Oracle Database running faster on Oracle Cloud than on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Oracle’s benchmark results show Oracle Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) running up to 105 times faster for Analytics workloads and 35 times faster for Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) workloads than Amazon DBaaS. Oracle CTO Larry Ellison also said Oracle Cloud is uniquely optimised for running Oracle Database, meaning it will run up to 24 times faster than an Oracle Database running on AWS for analytics and 8 times faster for OLTP.

“Amazon are decades behind in every database area that matters”, said Ellison.
