Modernising a critical Patient Administration System

A specialist NHS Trust needed to modernise the infrastructure supporting its critical Patient Administration System databases.

Pro DBA migrated the databases from the existing environment to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, giving the Trust a more scalable platform with improved performance, data management and cost control.

Resilience was built into the cloud architecture

The Oracle Cloud environment was designed with primary and Data Guard standby systems. This architecture provides high availability and a failover route for critical patient data if the primary system is disrupted.

The standby environment also strengthens business continuity and reduces the risk of extended downtime.

Sensitive healthcare data remained securely connected

Pro DBA established a site-to-site IPSec VPN between the Trust’s network and Oracle Cloud. This gave authorised teams controlled access to the new environment while protecting sensitive patient information.

The completed platform also simplified backups and disaster recovery while allowing resources to scale as the Trust’s requirements change.
