Construction company – IFS Applications support
When a construction company urgently needed IFS go-live assistance, Pro DBA quickly stepped in to help.
An Urgent Requirement
A looming IFS Applications go-live left our client in urgent need of IFS database clones/refreshes.
The initial service scope, process and engagement terms were agreed during a same-day meeting, and we got started right away. We quickly signed off compliance agreements to prevent hold-ups too.
The Delivered Solution
The live-to-test database refresh process was fully scripted, allowing client staff to run subsequent clones with minimal technical knowledge. Our scripts took account of the client’s use of Oracle Data Guard on both live and test databases (post-clone standby rebuilds were required).
Best-Practice Delivery
Comprehensive health checks of all primary and standby databases involved were carried out initially, and standby configuration anomalies were explained to the client with resolution and monitoring advice.
Our refresh process was scripted to make it robust, reliable and repeatable. Rigorous testing took place before we handed over the scripts with clear documentation.
Though this was an ad hoc engagement, experienced consultants from our Oracle and IFS teams remained available to support the solution and answer questions following handover.
The client was so pleased with our work that they asked us to run clones and patch their environments to the latest IFS release. We did this on the same day the request was received.
The Future
Our client was so impressed with our responsiveness and IFS Applications expertise that this ad hoc assignment quickly led to an IFS support contract spanning five environments.
