Market and Price Data Provider – Oracle Advanced Replication Requirement
When our client needed a replicated database set-up to achieve good performance and data sharing across regions, Pro DBA’s Oracle Advanced Replication knowledge was called upon to design and implement a solution.
Challenging Business Requirements
Our client delivers commodity price data to clients, a time-sensitive service. To enable staff in different regions to work on the same data set without compromising performance, they needed three replicated databases (one in the USA and two in the EU). A prerequisite was that two databases would be in the cloud and one would be on-premise.
Pro DBA’s Solution
We designed a 3-way multimaster replication system using Oracle Advanced Replication on Oracle Database Enterprise Edition, logically grouping tables into multiple replication groups. This helped minimise the replication delay and maximised throughput.
We also implemented conflict resolution procedures for all replicated objects to avoid inconsistencies.
The Verdict
Changes are replicated across the client’s three sites in less than a minute.
The client is very happy, as we’ve improved system performance for staff in all regions, and also minimised data conflicts. Pro DBA continues to support the implemented solution on a 24/7 basis.
